Hi all, as most of you know I will be out the rest of the week. Arthur's surgery went great and he is recovering really well. We should get to go home by the end of the week, but I need to be with him. Thank you all again for all of your kind thoughts and support.

The IA: I see that there are quite a few of you who have not submitted your lab to turnitin and I know I have received a few emails about your IAs. I have extended the due date in turnitin to this Friday (12/19), so ... get them in. I will not grade labs that are not in turnitin. If you need help figure it out, ask a friend, something but I will not be doing turnitin troubleshooting this week. Your lab should have been done for a while now and now you have a few days to figure this out if it is a challenge for you.

Topic 6: I hope you all are able to work through the text I left for you and that we can bust through the content after break. I think we will be doing something different with the final full IA but we'll see. I still really want us to get through topic 6 before the end of semester so please do what you can independently (this is mostly content we covered in STEM) and we'll pull it all together in January.

Late work: Any of you that still haven't turned in your late/missing labs DO IT. I will be getting those in as soon as I get back and then will no longer be accepting them. If you have already turned them in they are sitting in my late work pile and I will get to them before finals, as I have said I cannot allow lateness to affect your grade but I also don't have to rush to get late work graded.

I hope you all have a great break, see you next year.

New update. So it looks like I will need to be at the hospital Wednesday through Friday, so I am going to push your test to Wed/Thurs and I will be in class Mon/Tues so we can finish any review questions and maybe get you going on what you will need for Friday and Monday. There is a good chance I will need to be out Monday, it all depends on how the surgery goes. We will put together the key for the last review questions in class. See you all soon.

Hi all, sorry for not posting sooner. Lets push the IA due date to Wednesday, I still haven't created the assignment on turnitin. I'll try to get that done today. Arthur's situation appears to be even more complicated than we thought, his big surgery is coming up this friday but it looks like they will need to do some more diagnostic tests before then so I may be out a little more this week but should be in most of the week. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and understanding as we figure this out. Other than his kidneys (and now maybe more) being messed up he is doing fine, he feels fine and is playing a lot and getting spoiled rotten by all of his wonderful nurses. I hope to see you all tomorrow. The test is still on for tomorrow but remember it will be smaller/ a little less involved than previous tests.

Update: I will probably be out all week, I am so sorry but it can't be avoided. It looks like Arthur will be having surgery later this week or early next. But on a good note, he should be just about as good as new once all of the surgery is done. Please do good work and try to keep things rolling, I have left a lot of information for the sub and Mr. Keinlen has said that he would be happy to help you out with any questions you may have. I'll keep you posted and hope to see you soon.

Hi all, my younger son Arthur has been in the hospital since Tuesday night and will probably be here through the week. We still aren't sure what exactly is causing the problems but I am confident we will and the doctors here will be able to fix him. This does mean that I will need to miss some class this week. My plan is to come to school on the days when he isn't having any procedures, unfortunately I won't know until the day before. So I can't tell you for sure which days I will miss, and your sub will probably not be a chem teacher. So ... Here is the plan for the next couple of days.

Tues/Wed: Peer editing as planned, I will also print up some hard copies of the exemplars so you can all take another look at them. Also I am confident you all can work through the little bit of Topic 5 that is left. I will leave notes for a sub and some practice problems.

Thurs/Fri: Topic 5 review, I will have lots of practice problems available and I encourage you to use the computers if you need to access any of the extra resources on line. Please don't waste this time, I still want to have our test on Mon/Tues of next week so use your time well, work with each other and study.

Feel free to email me with questions (hospital time is a lot of sitting around waiting) and come see me when I'm on campus, I'll try to stick around for an hour after school on the days I come but I don't think I'll be able to get there early.
