Topic 9 text is uploaded. Please get notes through 9.4 and do all the exercises in sections 9.1 and 9.2. We will hit sections 9.3 and 9.4 next class. I would also imagine a quiz on 9.1 would be appropriate at this time. ;-)
Lab wright up requirements for the properties of Acids Lab.
Part 1: Identify solutions A and B as either the strong or the weak acid, support your claims with evidence from your pH, conductivity and reactivity tests. Part 2: Wright complete balanced equations for all three reactions performed with the strong acid (HCl) for each reaction include any observations from each reaction as well as your determination of the concentration of the HCl based on the acid base reaction. Data for the pH lab:
A: Vinegar pH 2.5 B: Distilled water pH 5.3 C: tap water pH 4.8 D: Baking Soda pH 8.1 E: Lemmon Juice pH 2.6 F: Washing Soda pH 10.9 G: Laundry detergent pH 9.8 H: Alkaseltszer pH 6.6 I: Soda (gingerale) pH 2.9 J: HCl pH 1.5 K: NaOH pH 12.5 L: antacid pH 10.5 Don't forget to turn in your data and your summary report of choice. Topic 8 text is up and ready to go. Get reading and notes for 8.1 and 8.2 done by next class. See you soon.
